Storm Water Management Update

Work is progressing on the stormwater management project. Read DPTC Executive Direct Paul Njuguna’s update below.

A trench has been excavated and cotton soils carted away at the back of the factory to hold the stormwater and redirect to the tunnel on the chief’s side.

Paul will be placing an order for hardcore so we can do stone pitching on that trench which is now helping greatly in redirecting most of the stormwater away from ED’s house. Paul was in the process of securing plastic gutters but was advised to do steel ones. He already has contacts for fabricators in Rongai and will be ordering the steel gutters from them.

July 9th Update

The stones to use for the pitching behind the water factory have been ordered and the gutters have been purchased. For the gutters, galvanized sheets we purchase and fabricated locally. With everything now on site, work has begun as planned. The stone pitching behind the water factory is being completed and the gutters mounted. The water is being redirected to the creek on the proprty but Paul would like to add plastic tanks or an underground tank to capture the water for reuse in the future.
